What Manchester United Have Been Told in Chase for £245k-a-Week Star

Manchester United are continuing their search for reinforcements to little success as new reports indicate they have been told that Joao Felix is not for sale by Atletico Madrid.

In a report from The Times, it was mentioned that the Red Devils had talks with the representatives of the 22-year-old but his club have insisted he is not for sale. The La Liga side consider the youngster to be a “franchise player” per the Daily Mail.

With Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford still uncertain, the team is going to need some goals. The Portuguese international youngster, who makes around £245,000 per week, has been scoring at a decent clip throughout his short career which has caught the attention of those in Manchester.

After a breakout season with Benfica in 2018/19, where he netted 20 goals, he made the move to Los Colchoneros where he has scored 29 times across three campaigns.

Felix is a young, versatile player who has room to grow. It’s no wonder that his current home side sees him as a franchise star to build around for the future. In addition to playing as a top man, he can operate as a winger or attacking midfielder with relative ease.

While he has yet to match the output he was getting in the Portuguese league, he has notched ten strikes in his last two seasons, despite being limited to just 35 appearances in 2021/22.

A hot young signing could be what Red Devils fans need to bring some optimism back to Manchester but for now, they have been told the prospect is not for sale. Back to the drawing board they go.
