Casadei Set to Travel to London for Medical and Contract Signing

With the London side having agreed a fee of around £16.8 million (including add-ons) with Inter for the teenager, he is now free to complete all the necessary requirements to close the deal. Romano adds that the Italian is expected to fly to London this afternoon to complete his medical tests and sign his contract with the club.

The 19-year-old is regarded as a top talent and is highly rated among those at Stamford Bridge. While he hasn’t made his debut for Inter’s senior team, Casadei made over 100 appearances for their youth sides over the last few years. He scored 39 goals and provided 8 assists from midfield and has already been compared with Frank Lampard.

Casadei has impressed many, including Maurizio Viscidi – Italian football’s youth scouting coordinator – who dubbed him a ‘modern midfielder’ and the ‘strongest player currently in Italy’s youth sector’. The 19-year-old is appreciated by Tuchel, but it’s still uncertain if he’ll be a regular in the Chelsea senior team, adds Romano.

Chelsea’s Summer Transfer Window So Far

In their first summer transfer window of the Todd Boehly regime, Chelsea have been very active. They’ve brought in some really experienced figures like Raheem Sterling from Manchester City to bolster the attack as well as Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli to essentially replace the departed Antonio Rudiger.

The Blues’ most recent acquisition was that of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella to provide more competition for Ben Chilwell in that position.

They are also building towards a bright future by signing some highly-rated young talent. The Blues signed former Aston Villa youngster Carney Chukwuemeka as a future option, did likewise with Gabriel Slonina, and are now doing the same with Casadei.

The Italian is expected to seal his move soon, and will look to push for a place in the Chelsea first-team squad. He faces a tough task to convince Tuchel to play him ahead of the likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic – but the teenager seems to have the talent for an imminent breakthrough season.
