About the Departing West Bromwich Albion Midfielder
Last season was fairly disappointing all round for West Brom. Injuries plagued Steve Bruce and they were unable to threaten the playoff spots. Midfielder Alex Mowatt performed well but to no avail as he isn’t faced but the experienced manager this time around. Middlesbrough, who themselves are promotion hopefuls, have taken full advantage of this.
Mowatt came to the fore in the second tier during his time with Barnsley. Under the stewardship of Valerien Ismael, against all odds, they finished in the playoff spot the season before last. Michal Helik and Cauley Woodrow were amongst the key men involved and Mowatt fits that mould too.

Mowatt in that Tykes midfield was a joy to watch and whilst they were unable to reach the promised land, it was still a sensational season. This becomes even more true given that they have since been relegated and are in League One. Ismael landed the job at West Bromwich Albion following his success at Oakwell and then his star man followed him.

Middlesbrough’s Ambitions For the Season
Turning attention to the club that Mowatt will be joining and Boro are a team to be watched. Chris Wilder knows how to make the jump from the Championship to the Premier League and the powers that be at the Riverside will be hoping to see this in action. His time with Sheffield United says it all and Middlesbrough will now be boosted by the arrival of Mowatt.
The West Bromwich Albion midfielder is a great pickup for Wilder and co. He is a very low-risk player from who you know exactly what you’re going to get. At the same time, whilst he hasn’t been playing, a rival is weakened in the process.
