21-Year-Old Impressing of Late
The 21-year-old has also attracted interest from fellow Premier League side Newcastle United, who had opened talks with Everton over a potential £35million deal, leading Thomas Tuchel’s side to act quickly and table a higher bid to try and secure the youngster.
Gordon played a crucial role in his side’s survival campaign last season and quickly became a fan favourite amongst the Everton faithful for his relentless efforts on the pitch and dedication to his boyhood club, who he has represented since he was 11.
He penned a new five-year deal with the Toffees in 2020, keeping him in Merseyside until 2025.

However, with Everton only narrowly escaping relegation in the 2021/2022 season and beginning their new campaign with two losses in as many games, Gordon might favour a chance at silverware over a long career at a smaller club.
An Offer Anthony Gordon Can’t Refuse?
Thomas Tuchel had already implemented his winning mentality amongst his players when he won the Champions League with his side after only four months in charge, showing his style of football would bring success to Stamford Bridge. Following the win, they went on to lift the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2021.

Tuchel was consequently awarded German Football Manager of the Year, UEFA Men’s Coach of the Year and The Best FIFA Football Coach for his efforts that season.
Frank Lampard restored hope in Everton fans by securing the Toffees’ place in the top flight in his first season, however, his job at the club is something of a long-term challenge. It’s no secret that Everton are going through a rut in terms of their results and performances on the pitch, and losing another key player will only intensify Lampard’s challenge.
Everton Have Already Lost First-Choice Attacker to Top Four Club
Richarlison broke the hearts of the fans when he departed the club this summer to join Tottenham Hotspur. Like Gordon, he showed his passion for Everton every time he wore the shirt, and netted some crucial goals throughout his time at the club. Eventually, the Brazilian opted for a different challenge when Antonio Conte came knocking at Goodison Park.

In a pre-season interview, Lampard commented on Gordon and the talent he’s displayed in his appearances. He said: “You have to work to get the number 10 shirt and Anthony has earned it.
“He gives everything and is going nowhere. He is our player and we want to build with him.”
However, with Lampard showing interest in players from his former club, Tuchel could force Everton’s hand with the promise of reinforcing their squad with proven and experienced options in return.
