Midfielder Near to Ending Frustrating Spell in North London
Lo Celso joined Tottenham on a permanent deal after impressing on loan during the 2019/20 season making 14 appearances. Antonio Conte has made it clear the midfielder has no part to play while he’s manager, and has forced the player once dubbed “unbelievable” by teammate Son Heung-min to train on his own during pre-season.
The 26-year-old has made 84 appearances for Spurs in all competitions scoring eight goals and providing six assists. He joined the lily-white side of North London in a £55million deal from Real Betis in the summer of 2019, showing his ability under the tutelage of then-manager Jose Mourinho. Following the arrival of Conte, Lo Celso slipped down the pecking order, which saw him return to La Liga for the second half of last season, where he proved instrumental for Villarreal in their memorable Champions League run.

Unfulfilled Talent
The midfielder hasn’t been able to fulfil his potential in North London and has found himself out of favour throughout the reign of Conte, sometimes not even making the matchday squad. Despite showing brilliant form for Unai Emery’s side, he has been unable to convince the Tottenham manager to give him a chance in the Premier League.
As reported by Spanish outlet El Periodico Mediterraneo, Conte’s decision to freeze out the player gave the La Liga team the belief they could re-sign the Argentine international.
Spurs have had a busy summer with six new players coming in, the club are now prioritising outgoings, which has seen Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon, and Harry Winks all destined for the exit door at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium along with Lo Celso.
