In a saga which feels that it has lasted the entirety of the window, Chelsea are still showing heavy interest in signing Frenkie de Jong. In his new YouTube video, Fabrizio Romano has informed his viewers that Chelsea are ready to make a bid on the condition that De Jong changes his mind and favours a move away.
The ever-popular Italian journalist stressed the importance that the midfield “genius” is very much in the driving seat and is still happy to remain in Barcelona colours. Manchester United are still looking to push for the midfielder, with an agreement between both clubs already in place.
If Frenkie de Jong Wants to Leave, Chelsea Will Make a Bid
Thomas Tuchel and Todd Boehly Are ‘in Love’ With Frenkie de Jong
Chelsea so far have had a window which has seen some of their top targets snatched out of their grasp. Both Thomas Tuchel and Todd Boehly are reportedly huge admirers of the current Barcelona player and are looking to pull out all the stops permitting Frenkie de Jong wants to set sail.
De Jong is an undoubtedly wonderful footballer and would add an abundance of talent to either English team, which makes it easy to see why he is admired by Chelsea. His attacking ability and underlying passing numbers make him an ideal target for teams struggling to create chances.
Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have all packed their bags and moved on to pastures new after stints at Chelsea this summer. These outgoings leave the Blues’ squad depth too thin if they are to be comfortable in those Champions League places. Alongside the new additions of Kalidou Koulibaly, Raheem Sterling and Marc Cucurella, Frenkie de Jong would add that vacant squad depth the Blues are crying out for.

Manchester United Continue to Push for Transfer
The English giants from the North West are still monitoring De Jong and are hopeful to have the Barcelona fielder bolster their ranks.

An agreement between Manchester United and Barcelona exists, and would see Barcelona gain over £70 million for the talented midfielder. This high transfer fee could play into the hands of the Red Devils, with Chelsea’s Cucurella, Koulibaly, and Sterling acquisitions already costing a large chunk of money. With a new bid for Wesley Fofana already being prepared, another £70 million deal would likely be tough for them to pull off.
