What Romano Said
The Italian journalist said on his youtube channel: “Frenkie de Jong has, as of today, no intention to leave Barcelona. He loves Barcelona, he loves the city, he considers Xavi a top manager, he wants to stay in Barcelona”
“Then let’s see what Barcelona will do, because Juan Laporta in the last interview on Frenkie said again we need to clarify something in the situation, and this is the reality because Barcelona will ask Frenkie to take a pay cut again, but Frenkie has, from what I am told, no intention to take a pay cut. He wants to continue and stay at Barcelona with the current contract, so no salary cut at the moment on Frenkie’s side. But let’s see what Manchester United and Barcelona will be able to do to change the situation.
“Let me confirm that Manchester United and Barcelona have an agreement that is still there and still valid…€75 million (£63.5 million), €10 million (£8.5 million) in add-ons, €85 million (£72 million) package. But for Frenkie, it’s a no.
“So, it’s up to Frenkie to change his mind, or continue like this and stay at Barcelona. But at the moment, on Frenkie’s side, his agents were really clear two weeks ago with Barcelona and with Manchester United, the player wants to stay.”
“As of now, Manchester United are still obsessed with Frenkie, but we know that the situation at the moment is still not clarified.”

Why United Want to Complete the Frenkie de Jong Transfer So Badly
The Red Devils are in desperate need of a midfielder after the departures of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic earlier this summer, and the Barcelona star would be the perfect man to fit this role. Having been described as ‘Special’, he is world-renowned for his talent, and he could bring this to Manchester as part of Erik ten Hag‘s revolution at Old Trafford.
Finally completing the coveted Frenkie de Jong transfer would be a massive boost for Ten Hag ahead of the new season, but he will want it to go through as soon as possible after an already drawn-out saga.
