Bayern Munich are chasing Mathys Tel, a 17-year-old French striker from Rennes. Bayern’s sporting director, Hasan Salihamidžić, said the German giants had direct conversations with Rennes over the player, according to Fabrizio Romano. The void left through Robert Lewandowski’s departure seems impossible to fill, but Bayern are moving quickly on all fronts.

Bayern Munich Are Targeting Mathys Tel
One to Watch
A move for Tel is certainly a move for the future. Tel made seven Ligue 1 appearances last season but failed to register a goal or an assist. In two Coupe Gambardella appearances, however, Tel scored three goals.
Although he hasn’t made major waves at the senior level just yet, Tel has been sensational for the youth sides of the French National Team. For the under-17 squad, Tel has scored five goals in nine appearances. The under-18 squad has also flourished with Tel on the side, as the forward has scored five goals in six appearances for them. He’s quickly moving up the ranks as a potential star to watch.

France is a hotbed for young talent, especially recently. Bayern, on the other hand, typically swoop in early for young stars and aids them in their development process. The German giants will have a new look next season without star striker Lewandowski, who scored 48 goals in 44 Bundesliga and Champions League matches, so any attacking help the club can get for now and in the future will surely help.
