Antonio Conte is looking to increase the depth of his squad with the return of Champions League football. The ability to rotate players is key, with the number of potential matches added to the normal schedule. Other clubs were rumoured to be interested in Yves Bissouma, but it is the Noth London side that have stolen their target.
According to Football.London, the 25-year-old is due to undergo a medical on Thursday. Despite picking up an ankle injury in the international game against South Sudan, Spurs are confident of securing the signature of Bissouma. This would be another great signing for Tottenham, who appear to be busy this window.
Already linked to Djed Spence in defence with a deal for Ivan Perisic already in the bag, and now with Bissouma likely joining in midfield Conte is certainly making moves for an assault on the Premier League. Although Brighton have remained in the Premier League for a number of years and are now a mainstay in the top flight, Champions League football with Spurs is an added incentive.
The signing of Bissouma looks to be just a formality, with the medical scheduled for Thursday, the midfielder will likely be leaving Brighton and should be moving to the capital.
