Huddersfield Town Current Run of Form
Over the final seven games of the Championship season, Huddersfield Town were the most in-form team having won five and drawn twice.
At the start of February, Carlos Corberal’s side found themselves outside the play-off spots after a 0-0 draw at Preston North End. Since then, the Terriers have lost just twice in 15 Championship matches and surged up the league standings.
The Terriers drew 1-1 with Luton Town in the first leg at Kenilworth Road and have reached the play-off final thanks to Jordan Rhodes’ 82nd-minute second-leg winner in Yorkshre.
Nottingham Forest Current Run of Form
Nottingham Forest have experienced quite the turnaround under Steve Cooper. Since the former Swansea City boss has taken the reins at the City Ground, Forest have moved from a side that was bottom of the Championship standings to now being 90 minutes away from the Premier League.
Brennan Johnson, Joe Worrall, James Garner and Djed Spence have all been crucial parts of the Reds squad this term and, since January, they have had their eyes fixed upward to see how high they could eventually finish.
Forest dominated proceedings in the play-off first leg against Sheffield United, winning 2-1, but they could have been well out of sight at half-time had they been more clinical. They were far from their best in the second leg and had to go all the way to penalties where Brice Samba provided the heroics as Forest came out on top.
Recent Head to Head
Forest and Huddersfield have already met three times this season: twice in the Championship and once in the FA Cup.
The Reds came out on top in the first meeting – Forest’s first game after Chris Hughton’s departure as manager – with Lewis Grabban and a Lee Nicholls own-goal providing the goods.
Duane Holmes scored the only goal of the game in the reverse fixture at the City Ground, but Forest beat the Terriers again 2-1 in the FA Cup.
Huddersfield Town vs Nottingham Forest Prediction
Both of these two teams head into the play-offs full of confidence thanks to their brilliant runs of form.
Huddersfield were more expected to reach the top six than Forest this season, especially after the Reds’ awful start to the season, perhaps making them the marginal favourites.
It will be interesting to see how much of an impact playing 120 minutes plus penalties against Sheffield United in the semi-finals will have on Forest. They should have enough quality to come out on top at Wembley Stadium.
