Arsenal Current Run of Form
Mikel Arteta’s side head into this clash full of confidence having beaten London rivals Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge in their last outing.
Beyond that win, however, the Gunners are on an inconsistent run of form. Arsenal have won two of their last five Premier League matches – against Chelsea and Aston Villa – but were beaten by Southampton, Brighton and Crystal Palace.
Arteta made some big calls in his team selection ahead of the win over Chelsea, but the likes of Mohamed Elneny and Rob Holding could retain their place in the Arsenal line-up v Manchester United.
Manchester United Current Run of Form
Manchester United announced the appointment of Erik ten Hag as their long-term successor to Ralph Rangnick earlier in the week, and the Red Devils will be desperate to showcase their true ability having been beaten 4-0 by Liverpool last time out.
Similar to Arsenal, however, it has been a matter of inconsistency dragging the Red Devils down the Premier League table. United have won just four games in their last ten league fixtures, drawing and losing three games respectively.
Rangnick decided to set up with a back five for a bit of defensive security against Liverpool, but the failure of that set-up could see the boss ring the changes in his Manchester United line-up vs Arsenal.
Recent Head to Head
Manchester United won the meeting with Arsenal earlier in the season after an incredibly entertaining fixture at Old Trafford.
Emile Smith Rowe put the Gunners ahead before Bruno Fernandes levelled the tie; Cristiano scored to send United in front, but Martin Odegaard put the visitors on parity two minutes later. Ronaldo scored again with 20 minutes left on the clock to take all three points for the Red Devils.
The 3-2 win over Arsenal earlier in the season was United’s first victory over the Gunners in the Premier League since March 2019, and their first home win over them since April 2018.
Manchester United have won just once in their last five meetings with Arsenal, losing twice and drawing twice.
Arsenal vs Manchester United Prediction
These fixtures have proved a little hard to call in the past. Both sides are in inconsistent form but will have also taken positives whether that be Arsenal’s win over their local rivals, or United’s long-term future under ten Hag being confirmed. It’s going to be yet another close game between two hard-fought rivals.
