What Aguero Said

Aguero told TYC Sports, as cited by Gianluca Di Marzio: “Fifa already treats me like a legend. Yesterday it crossed my mind that I could play again. The doctors told me that I have to stay 5-6 months without doing any activity, but I already want to train. Inter Miami called me but I refused. In 2 years? Let’s see … ”

A Legendary Career Cut Short

It was less than four months ago that Aguero held an emotional press conference announcing his sudden retirement from the game due to heart issues. These issues, of course, are not anything to take lightly. Surely it was difficult for both the player and his fans, but it was an important decision to make.

Now, the 33-year-old striker sees potential in a possible return. This is especially important with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar approaching in several months.

Aguero last played for Barcelona after an illustrious career with English giants Manchester City. While at Barcelona, Aguero scored one goal in just four La Liga appearances.

His records with Manchester City, however, speak for themselves. In 2014/15, Aguero scored 26 goals and provided eight assists in 33 Premier League matches. In 2017/18, he scored 21 goals and provided six assists in 25 matches. There are many other strong seasons to his name as well, let alone the iconic goal v Queens Park Rangers to win the 2011/12 Premier League title.

He also has several trophies to his name, the bulk of which came with Manchester City. This includes five Premier League crowns, six League Cups, one FA Cup, and three Community Shields. He only failed to win the Champions League.

Only time will tell if Aguero will return to the game, but fans across the globe will cheer for him if he’s healthy and ready to go.
