Sassuolo CEO Admits Talented Forward Giacomo Raspadori Is In-Demand

What the Sassuolo CEO Said

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali is quoted as saying: “We’ve received a proposal from a Premier League club for Giacomo Raspadori – they’re pushing since January but he’s a key player for us.”

Juventus are even rumoured to be interested and Sassuolo aren’t necessarily opposed to a move. The two clubs have a history of working together.

“Raspadori to Juve? Could be an option – we’d be happy to open talks again after the Locatelli deal,” Carnevali added.

Juventus are an intriguing opportunity as star forward Paulo Dybala is set to depart this summer. The club now needs to fill a hole in its front line.

A Look Into the Player

Raspadori is an interesting prospect as a 22-year-old striker. He’s been a part of Sassuolo’s first team since 2019. He also made his debut for the Italian National Team last year and continues to be called up. Raspadori is not the first-choice striker for Italy, but being called up for the reigning European champions is a testament to his abilities.

He’s in the midst of his best season yet. Raspadori currently holds nine goals and five assists to his name in 28 Serie A appearances. Improvement is clear as last season he had six goals and three assists in 27 league appearances. For Italy, Raspadori holds one goal to his name in seven matches. Sassuolo is enjoying a solid season for their standards due to their front line. Much of the success falls in the hands of Raspadori.

Raspadori is not the most talented finisher in his age group. The interest in the player stems from his technical abilities. The Italian striker is a crafty dribbler, solid crosser, and intelligent passer with nearly impeccable technique.

His intelligence both on and off the ball highlights his potential. With that being said, he is a bit flashy at times which leads to mistakes. Fixing that comes with experience.

He is the epitome of a modern-style striker who’s not necessarily a goal poacher, but a solid mix of a scorer and creator. This new wave of strikers is all the rage. Raspadori headlines this pack of strikers climbing the ladder.

Sassuolo also holds a solid track record of developing players. Names on this list include Manuel Locatelli, Domenico Berardi, Merih Demiral, Francesco Acerbi, Lorenzo Pellegrini, and others. Italian giants are always monitoring Sassuolo to see their next wave of talent. Raspadori is currently a headliner and it’s easy to see why when watching him.
