Carel Eiting has signed with Huddersfield Town for a second time. The Dutch midfielder departed KRC Genk earlier today and has signed with the Terriers.
Carel Eiting Returns to Huddersfield
Midfielder to Make a Welcome Return to Yorkshire
Dutch midfielder Carel Eiting has made a surprise return to Huddersfield Town. The Terriers announced his signing on deadline day. The 23-year-old is a welcome sight to Terrier fans after he impressed the last time he played for the Yorkshire club.
Eiting was previously with Huddersfield during the 2020/2021 campaign, on loan from Ajax. With three goals and three assists in the 23 appearances the Dutchman certainly had talent. Eiting then moved to Belgium at the end of the season.
Although a surprise return, rumours had circulated since the 23-year-old left Genk by mutual consent. As a free agent Eiting didn’t have to be announced today, however the Terriers always like to drop a surprise on their fans. Confirming Eiting on deadline day, as a free agent is a brilliant piece of business for the Yorkshire club.
Huddersfield announced three signings on deadling day. But Eiting is the most exciting of those. Jamal Blackman, Tino Anjorin and now Eiting. The Terriers have had an excellent January window, and have shelled out very little. Blackman and Eiting were free agents, and Anjorin arrived on loan from Chelsea.
This is one of the best January windows for a long time for the Championship Club, currently sitting just outside the play-off places. Midfield was an area the Terriers were lacking, but now with two more signed up on deadline day things are looking up.
Eiting will not take long to settle back in, having played with the terriers before. Albeit a different manager, but the fact he only spoke to one team shows he wanted to come back. Huddersfield Town have a mantra “Once a Terrier, always a Terrier” and Eiting proved this.
