We are now into the last days of the January transfer window, and Tottenham Hotspur are yet to secure reinforcements. Anything can happen in a few days, however, as the news continues to increase.
According to Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic, talks are ongoing between the North London club and AC Milan regarding a loan move for Japhet Tanganga. The defender has, however, started the last five games, putting Spurs in a cautious position over letting him leave. If they let him leave, they would reportedly prefer a loan with an option to buy. Milan, by contrast, reportedly want a straight loan. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, and Dele Alli could also leave this month.
Onto news regarding incomings, talks are set to restart for Adama Traore, with the club confident of completing a deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Romano also reported that Tottenham see Fiorentina Sofyan Amrabat as one of the candidates to replace Ndombele, if the midfielder leaves this month. Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion right-back Tariq Lampty has also emerged as a player that Spurs have concrete interest in, according to Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News.

Tanganga to Follow in Fikayo Tomori’s Footsteps?
When Fikayo Tomori left Chelsea in favour for a loan move to AC Milan, before making it permanent, it seemed to be the start of English prospects opting for a move to the Serie A. Tammy Abraham has since followed suit, enjoying success on loan at Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma. Now, Tanganga looks likely to make what is becoming a popular move.
The Spurs defender hasn’t struggled for game time recently, but he has for form. Perhaps a move to Milan could turn his struggles around. Likewise, a departure could kick Tottenham into gear regarding transfer incomings, as the news heats up.
With little time left of the transfer window, the London club need to act quickly if they want to secure reinforcements. Antonio Conte will fear that, without reinforcements, his side will be unable to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. And, without that spot, comes consequences, and potential exits. Top players will want to play in European football next season, making it more important than ever that Spurs qualify.
