How Elanga Made the Breakthrough at Old Trafford
Having operated primarily as a left-winger during his time at Manchester United so far, Elanga is known for the kind of pace and versatility that has also seen him utilised in the centre-forward’s position across the club’s different age groups.
The youngster was handed a senior debut by previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in May 2021, and scored his first goal for the club later that month in a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on what was the final day of the 2020/21 Premier League season.
Following Solskjaer’s dismissal last month, Elanga has continued to catch the eye, and has featured twice already under interim manager Ralph Ragnick.
Despite having extended his contract with the club as recently as March this year, Elanga is now close to being rewarded with improved terms to tie his long-term future to Old Trafford.
Elanga Has International Future to Decide
While matters at club level continue to develop for Elanga, the Sweden U21 international also has a decision to make as to which country he decides to represent at senior level.
That country is likely to be Sweden. Elanga was born in the country, and also represented them at U17 level. However, the winger is also eligible to play for England or Cameroon, and may decide now is the time to make a definitive choice as to which of the three countries he wishes to play for.
