The Current Star and the Future Star
Real Madrid negotiated their deal for Vincius Junior with Flamengo in May 2017. The deal was for a reported €46 million, making the player the most expensive transfer from Brazil outside of Neymar. It’s safe to say that expectations were high.
The Brazilian sensation is affirming all expectations. He’s brilliant on the ball and a true attacking force. His young age just indicates that he will continue to improve. He’s leaving very little doubt on his abilities this season.
In 16 La Liga appearances, he has 10 goals and three assists. In six Champions League appearances, he has two goals and four assists. Vinicius Junior is the real deal.
Real Madrid does have a wealth of attacking options on the wing, at least name wise. Outside of Vinicius Junior, this includes the likes of Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio, Isco, Rodrygo, and even Lucas Vazquez at times. Vincius Junior stands above the rest as the most talented and inform.
Clearly he’s a major factor in the team’s success thus far. Real Madrid sit atop of the La Liga table with 39 points from 16 matches. This includes 12 wins, three draws, and just one loss. They also finished first in the Champions League Group D, earning 15 points from six matches with five victories and one loss.
A contract extension for Vinicius Junior presents a win-win situation for both the club and player.
