As revealed by Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic, Paul Pogba could be out until next year with a thigh injury. Having joined up with the national side, Pogba was quickly handed an eight to 10 week prognosis by the France medical team. Now on his way back to Manchester United, those at the club will be hoping to give a far less damming verdict on the injury.
The news comes in the midst of what is a growing storm over Old Trafford, with Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s future continuously in doubt. The news of the Pogba injury certainly doesn’t help things for the manager.

More Bad News for Solskjaer
It would be an understatement to brandish Solskjaer as lucky to still be in a job. The Norwegian was one of the most backed managers in the summer; he wanted Jadon Sancho, he got Jadon Sancho; he want Raphael Varane, he got Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo was a mere gift of good will. Yet, 11 games in, and United sit sixth, five points adrift of the top four, and nine points adrift of the Premier League’s summit.
The international break was meant to act as a chance to refresh and go again. Just a couple of days in, however, and the injury to Pogba deals Solskjaer another blow. The last thing a struggling manager needs is an injury to a star player. And despite critics, Pogba is a star player, whose absence will be felt amongst those in United colours.
At his best, Pogba’s impact can transform this United side. We saw that at the start of the season, when the Frenchman recorded seven assists in a matter of games from the left-hand side. Of course, we’ve also seen the ugly side of the midfielder – as well as everyone else at United this season – but his ability is clear for all to see.
