Speaking to canaries.co.uk have completed a deal with Schalke for Ozan Kabak, reports Fabrizio Romano. It will be an initial loan with an option to buy for the former Liverpool loanee. The Turkish defender will reportedly leave for England and have his medical later today.
Schalke’s need to sell Kabak is no secret, as is Kabak’s desire to leave. To put it simply, the club just haven’t been able to find a suitable solution. They recently rejected Torino’s approach, once again leaving the defender without his move. With just under two days left until the transfer window slams shut, Kabak will be delighted to finally get his move.

Norwich Need Defender
If you look at Norwich City’s backline, their need for a central defender is obvious. If they want to finally have a successful spell in the Premier League, they simply cannot be starting the likes of Grant Hanley. Daniel Farke must learn that the same foundations at the back as 2019/20 will not result in survival. Ozan Kabak feels like a need, and not a want.
Having had an impressive spell at Liverpool before injury struck, too, the Canaries may end up with a bargain if they decide to trigger Kabak’s option to buy next summer. Taking every factor into account, it’s surprising that the defender didn’t get his summer move sooner. He’s young, yet has enough top flight experience, good on the ball, and not exactly slow, either.
Out of every proposal made this summer, it is Norwich City’s that would have attracted Kabak the most. He would have felt as though he had unfinished business in the Premier League having originally broke into the Liverpool side before the aforementioned injury cut his time short, allowing Nat Phillip and Rhys Williams to take the reigns.
In landing the deal, the Canaries have significantly boosted their survival chances this season.
What Was Said?
Speaking to canaries.co.uk, Kabak said: “I’m very happy to be a part of this family. I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans and getting some points.
“I spoke with the head coach and I’m really impressed by his project and what he said to me. I believe in him and his project.
“I played in the Premier League last year and I really enjoyed it. So, I want to play again and that’s why I’m here. I want to play in the Premier League and to give something to the team.
“I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans with this jersey. We will work hard to get some wins and take some points to make our fans happy.”
