According to Fabrizio Romano, no agreement with any club has been made for Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, but Ekrem Konur reports that AC Milan are interested.
He’s surplus to requirements at the Etihad after the arrival of Jack Grealish, and would immediately become a star for the Rossoneri.
Milan are also finally back in the Champions League, meaning they have the ability to attract the ‘bigger names’ after missing out for nearly a decade. With that being said, a player of Silva’s abilities will likely command a higher transfer fee and higher wages. It remains to be seen if Milan can offer whatever that may be.
AC Milan Interested in Manchester City Midfielder Bernardo Silva
Silva at City
Silva is currently in the middle of a tight depth chart full of world-class midfielders and wingers at Manchester City. City have plenty of choices, with options such as Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Grealish, and more. With that being said, Silva remains a top player and his talents can be showcased elsewhere.
Last season, he scored five goals and had nine assists in a total of 43 matches. There was, however, plenty of wealth to be spread around for City so Silva was never really tasked to be the primary playmaker.
What Bernardo Silva Would Bring to Milan
On Milan, he’d be just that. Silva is crafty in a variety of ways. He’s silky smooth with the ball at his feet, can curl in shots with either foot, and place pinpoint passes for strikers to finish the job. He’d immediately feature as Milan’s creator and go-to player.
A Silva arrival will also allow Milan to feature him and Brahim Diaz. Diaz, now Milan’s number ten, is a creative wizard. He’s ready to burst onto the scene in his new role. Featuring both him and Silva will create nightmares for opposing defences, especially with the duo feeding Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud.
Of course, the fee and wages will be a challenge. If the move is possible, Milan must make it their primary focus. Silva is a true game-changer and exactly what Milan need to compete in Europe. It’s a major step in the right direction if done.
