Manchester City Preparing €150 million Harry Kane Bid

Harry Kane

Manchester City are reportedly preparing a bid of €150 million for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, who wants to leave the club this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions will only submit the bid if Tottenham display a willingness to sell the England captain. This means Pep Guardiola’s side are prepared to wait until the end of the current transfer window in order to follow any developments regarding Kane’s future.

Premier League Holders Unleashing Financial Might This Summer

Manchester City have already broken the British transfer record with the signing of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa this summer. Their long-standing interest in Kane indicates that their spending in this transfer window is far from over, and it would come as no surprise to see the England skipper follow Grealish to the Etihad Stadium before deadline day.

However, any potential deal for Kane would be complicated by the striker’s contractual situation at Tottenham. The 28-year-old is under contract in north London until 2024, and his existing deal contains no release clause that City could exploit.

Kane believed that he had a gentlemen’s agreement with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that he could find a new club this summer, but the club have since blocked any exit for the striker and expect him to stay.

New manager Nuno Espirito Santo has said Kane will remain a Tottenham player and has declared the striker available to face Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.

Decision Rests on Tottenham Stance Over Kane

Pep Guardiola has made no secret of his interest in bringing Kane to Manchester City, but the club will only make their move if Tottenham decide to entertain offers for their talisman in the time remaining in this transfer window.

So far this summer, Spurs’ stance has been that Kane is strictly not for sale. The club’s position did not change when the striker refused to return when scheduled for pre-season, and Kane has since been involved in first-team training.

Manchester City remain hopeful that Tottenham reverse their intention not to sell before the end of the window, and are now fully prepared to act if their patience shows signs of a reward.
