According to Gianluca di Marzio, Atletico Madrid are gearing up an offer for Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic. It is believed that the Spanish side is readying up a €50 million offer for the Serbian striker. Vlahovic is fresh off a stellar personal season for a disappointing side. His contract expires in 2023, so Fiorentina may look to sell before losing him for nothing.
This may be a terrific move for Atletico Madrid, especially after already signing a Serie A star in Rodrigo de Paul.

Atletico’s main strikers right now are Luis Suarez and Angel Correa. Suarez remains a fantastic option but is getting up there in age. The Uruguayan sensation is 34-years-old. With that being said, he’s still a leader and game-changer.
Correa is a solid option but isn’t a true striker. He also stands at 5’5″, so he’s not much of a threat in the box either.
Vlahovic comes in as the likely back-up for Suarez, but a great option for the future. Last season he scored 21 goals and provided two assists in 37 Serie A matches. He was clearly Fiorentina’s top player, but also one of the best players in all of Italy. Adding to this, Vlahovic is just 21-years-old. He has not even come close to reaching his prime form.
He’s also a perfect mould for Atletico manager Diego Simeone’s play style. His height and frame allow him to serve as the typical and tough target man, like the role Diego Costa served for the Spanish side. Vlahovic, however, is also so much more than that.
Vlahovic’s spatial awareness is beyond his years, knowing where to position himself and how to pick apart defences through both pace and skill. In theory, Vlahovic is built like the dream striker. He may not necessarily be on Erling Haaland’s level just yet, but Vlahovic is one of Europe’s top striker prospects.
