Joshua Kimmich Expected to Extend Bayern Contract
Kimmich Ends Rumours Regarding His Future With Bayern
Bayern Munich are in talks to extend the contract of their star man Joshua Kimmich. The German is reportedly on the verge of putting pen to paper a new five-year deal with the Bavarian giants. Kimmich’s decision to fire his agent and represent himself had sparked rumours of a potential exit. But, the German was reportedly keen on extending his contract and had no plans of moving from the club.
The new contract will see Joshua Kimmich receive a big pay rise. The German will reportedly get almost double his current wages. The contract will also see Kimmich tied at the club until June 2026. The new deal means that Kimmich is likely to spend a total of 11 years at the Allianz Arena.
Five More Years of Kimmich
If Kimmich fulfils the new contract, the German will have spent 11 years with Bayern Munich. The midfielder graduated through the Stuttgart youth academy and joined RB Leipzig in 2013. During his two years with Die Roten Bull, Kimmich caught the eye of Bayern Munich scouts and joined the club in 2015.
Munich, who were in search of a successor for Philip Lahm, found a player of a similar mould. Kimmich quickly established himself at the Allianz Arena. His arrival coincided with Guardiola’s last season with the club. Under the tutelage of the Spaniard, he came leaps and bounds.
The German has spent five years so far with the Bavarians. During this period, he has made 259 appearances and scored 30 goals for the Bundesliga giants. He also been an integral part of the squad that has dominated the domestic circuit during the last five seasons.
