Inter’s Financial Struggles Plays Into Chelsea’s Hands

Inter’s financial struggles have been well-documented this summer. The Serie A champions have already sold Achraf Hakimi, and may have to offload more players to balance the books.

Although he is reportedly happen at the San Siro, one of those players set to depart is Lukaku.

Chelsea have already made two bids for the forward this summer. However, they are now likely to return with a third bid of over £100 million.

Lukaku had a disappointing first spell at Chelsea. He made just 15 appearances for the Blues as a youngster, failing to register a goal.

The Belgian, though, has been a major threat in front of goal since making the move to the San Siro. The 28-year-old has scored 64 goals in all competitions in his two seasons with the club.

Thomas Tuchel Needs a Prolific Striker

Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring a prolific striker to Stamford Bridge this summer, and Chelsea are in desperate need of one.

The Blues have already allowed Olivier Giroud to leave, coincidentally to Inter’s city rivals AC Milan.

As a result, that leaves just Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner as the club’s first-choice strikers. However, Abraham is also likely to leave West London this summer, leaving the German as the sole striker.

Werner had a disappointing first season at Stamford Bridge. He registered just seven goals for Chelsea, as fans’ frustration grew as the season went on.

Chelsea had been looking to sign Erling Haaland this summer, but were priced out of a move for the Norwegian star, who is likely to remain at Borussia Dortmund until next season.
