Alisson Becker Signs New Liverpool Contract

Alisson Becker

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has signed a new contract at the club until 2027 as the Reds look to tie key players down for the future. The Brazilian is one of the most important players in Jurgen Klopp’s squad. Without him, they often struggle to replicate their usual calm and composed form of playing.

Ever since joining the club, the former Roma man has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world, winning the Golden Glove in the Premier League, Copa America and the Champions League all in one season.

The news of the contract will delight Liverpool fans as they prepare for the new Premier League season come August, where they’ll look to secure their second title in three years.

Looking for More Silverware

With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez back in front of him in the forthcoming season, Alisson Becker and Liverpool will be seeking more silverware. The main goal this season will be to reclaim the Premier League title after losing out to Manchester City last season.

On a personal note, too, Alisson will be desperate to claim the Premier League’s Golden Glove for the second time in his Liverpool career. That will be the short-term plan but with a contract until 2026, the Brazilian will have more than a couple of opportunities to secure several honours.

As for Jurgen Klopp, he’ll be desperate for a far more smooth sailing season this time around after injuries galore last time out. This time, he shouldn’t have to rely on midfielders and inexperienced players to fill in; now, he has at least four world-class central defenders to choose from.

Together, whether it be Ibrahima Konate, Van Dijk, Gomez or Joel Matip in front of Alisson, Liverpool can reach the heights of the 2019/20 season once more.
