Udinese to Sign Lazar Samardzic
One of the Biggest German Prospects
Udinese are very close to signing 19-year-old German attacking midfielder Lazar Samardzic. The Italian side will reportedly pay €3 million to Die Roten Bullen for securing the services of the highly talented attacking midfielder. The German had earlier been on the radar of some of Europe’s elite like Chelsea, Barcelona and Juventus.
Born in Berlin, Lazar Samardzic joined Hertha Berlin as a seven-year-old in 2002. Samardzic progressed through the youth academy and finally made his professional debut with the reserve squad during the 2019/20 season before making his debut for the senior team just months later. Samardzic ended his first professional season with three appearances in the Bundesliga.
The German moved to RB Leipzig at the start of last season. Samardzic made his debut a month later but struggled to get regular minutes with Die Roten Bullen. The attacking midfielder made nine appearances for RB Leipzig last season in total and failed to find the net. Samardzic is yet to score a goal in his professional career.
Adding more Attacking Threat is a Priority for Udinese
Udinese are keen on adding more attacking threats this season. They have already made enquiries about the possibility of signing Chelsea’s young striker Armando Broja on a season-long loan deal. Lazar Samardzic is the latest player linked with a move to Fruili stadium.
Udinese struggled to find the net last season. Many of their attacking players misfired and, apart from Rodrigo de Paul, no other player scored more than five goals for Le Zebrette. With De Paul joining Atletico Madrid, Udinese are in the market in search of goalscorers.
