According to Mike McGrath of the Telegraph, Aston Villa are hoping to secure deals for Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham and Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe. The news represents further business in a summer of transfer reinforcements at Aston Villa. They have already signed Ashley Young, Emi Buendia and Leon Bailey to put them amongst those with the busiest transfer windows.
Last season, Dean Smiths’ side flirted with the European places before eventually facing the disappointment of failure. After this summer’s recruitment, however, Villa will be in a better position that ever to send shockwaves throughout the entirety of English football, with or without the Manchester City-linked Jack Grealish.

A Move Both Abraham and Tuanzebe Have Made Before
The news that both Tammy Abraham and Axel Tuanzebe could complete moves to Aston Villa in this transfer window comes as no surprise. If you cast your minds back to the 18/19 season, the duo both had successful loan spells at Villa Park before returning to their parent clubs where they have since had contrasting fortunes.
Tammy Abraham, prior to Thomas Tuchel’s arrival, was very much one of, if not the main man to call on in the frontline. Under Frank Lampard, like many academy graduates, he thrived when handed the opportunity, scoring 18 goals in 47 appearances throughout the 19/20 season.
Ever since Tuchel’s arrival, his game time has plummeted, however. In fact, last season, he made just 32 appearances, with just two starts in the last 12 games of the Premier League campaign. In those appearances, he managed to score the same amount of goals as Timo Werner, leading to several questions regarding his lack of minutes.
As for Tuanzebe, a combination of injuries at the wrong time and quality in front of him in the pecking order kept him out of the Manchester United side in the last two seasons. The loan move to Aston Villa worked wonders for him before. And, now, he needs that boost again.
The defender, despite potentially competing with Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa, will hope to make the move before being handed those all-important minutes on the pitch.
