Liverpool midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri is set to given permission to depart should the right offer come in. He told CorSport, as cited by Fabrizio Romano: “I told Liverpool board I feel ready for a new challenge. They accepted my decision and will now consider bids to sell me. Liverpool won’t stop me this summer. I’d love to come back to Italy, and I’d like to play for Lazio.”
The news comes as no surprise considering Shaqiri’s game time, or more the lack of it, at Anfield. With the Reds going through somewhat of a summer clear out, too, now is the perfect time for the Swiss international to make way.
Already, Liverpool have made £33.3 million from player sales this summer, which is not much less than what they paid for Ibrahima Konate. Add Shaqiri’s potential sale onto that and the Reds have enough to welcome further incomings.

Lazio: The Perfect Fit
With Lazio entering a new era with Maurizio Sarri in charge, they’d love nothing more than to welcome Xherdan Shaqiri to the Serie A this summer. We’ve see the likes of Luis Alberto flourish in a Lazio shirt, playing a creative role. And, if he stays fit, Shaqiri would take the Italians to new heights.
The Swiss international has done it all in his career, from Champions League and Bundesliga wins at Bayern Munich to winning the Premier League title at Liverpool. The fact is, Lazio, or others interested, would be getting a serial, experienced winner for a price that wouldn’t exactly break the bank, £12 million to be exact- as per James Pearce of the Athletic.
The fact that Xherdan Shaqiri has openly spoken about his desire to leave Liverpool in favour of a Lazio move is a major positive for the Serie A side. Now, it is just about reciprocating that interest and making a suitable offer.
