Giuseppe Pezzella to Join Atalanta on Loan
Atalanta Improving Their Squad Depth
Giuseppe Pezzella is set to sign with La Dea on loan from Parma. The Italian will join the club on loan with an obligation to buy if the Italians qualify for the Champions League and the defender makers 20 appearances this season. Pezzella follows Musso as the second player to arrive at Gewiss stadium this transfer window. The fullback will reportedly have his medicals in the coming days ahead of his proposed move.
Pezzella started his career with Palermo in 2015 after graduating from the youth setup. The Italian left the club a season later to join Udinese after the Rosnero suffered relegation. He failed to secure regular first-team football in Udinese and left the club to join Parma in 2019. The 23-year-old was a regular Giallloblu and made 46 appearances in his two seasons. He also chipped in with a goal and four assists last season, but failed to avoid relegation.
Pezzella will be a welcome addition to Atalanta who rely heavily on their wingbacks for attacks. Robin Gosens, the first-choice left-back, only had a short rest following his involvement in the Euros.
A Busy Transfer Window for Atalanta
Atalanta have been very active in this transfer market. They signed Juan Musso early this summer before selling Pierluigi Gollina to Tottenham Hostpur. La Dea are also close to an agreement with Tottenham Hostpur over a potential transfer for Argetina international Cristian Romero.
The Serie A side are also reportedly in the market for a replacement for Romero, who will likely leave Bergamo before the end of this transfer window.
