Manchester United Prepared to Offer Leon Goretzka Bigger Wage Than Bayern Munich

Leon Goretzka

Manchester United have stepped in to offer Leon Goretzka a higher contract offer than the one Bayern Munich are offering him in a bid to tempt him to make the move to England, according to Christian Falk.

Manchester United Prepared to Offer Leon Goretzka a Higher Salary

Bayern Set to Re-Open Negotiations

The Red Devils have had a keen interest in the player and are now willing to better the salary that he is being offered by current club Bayern Munich to try and seal a deal for him.

That isn’t to say that Ole Gunner Solksjaer is guaranteed to get his man though. The club may be able to put an offer on the table but the German side will re-enter negotiations with the midfielder and could match or give him improved terms to try and keep him in the Bundesliga.

The 26-year old was one of the standouts for his national side at Euro 2020 and his showings have clearly convinced Man United to try and push through a move for him during this summer’s transfer window. The Red Devils know they will need to land some big signings to try and compete with rich neighbours Manchester City and have already splashed the cash on Jadon Sancho, with Raphael Varane and now Goretzka potentially set to follow.

They believe Goretzka could be an astute addition to the side and, by offering him better wages than Bayern, they are clearly prepared to put their money where their mouth is to try and land him during this transfer window.

Three Seasons With Bayern

Gortezka has been with Bayern over the course of the past three seasons and has racked up success after success with the German side. They’ve topped the Bundesliga table each season he has been there and his contributions have been tremendous, managing total of 33 goal contributions in 78 games for the club so far. That’s despite just 58 starts in that time. It means he has an average of 0.57 goals or assists per 90 for the side.

He’s well experienced in German football, having been playing regularly at top tier level since he was just 18-years old. His first start in the league came for former club Schalke, a side he led to third in the table during his first season for them and then second during his final campaign.

He, therefore, has experience of playing football not only at the highest level in Germany but also in Europe for his club sides. After another impressive showing on the international stage, United are seemingly in no doubt about his ability to play at the highest level.

Although he has yet to challenge himself in England, the Red Devils could offer him the chance to do just that this summer. If Bayern aren’t willing to up their offer for the 26-year old when negotiations re-open, then Solksjaer could indeed land his man and add to the exciting array of talent he is trying to bring in to Old Trafford during this transfer window.
