Kieran Trippier Wants Premier League Return Following Euro 2020 Performances

Kieran Trippier

Kieran Trippier, currently at Atletico Madrid, is desperate for a Premier League return, according to Matt Law of the Telegraph. The fullback enjoyed an impressive tournament at Euro 2020 with England where he proved many doubters wrong. Having left Tottenham Hotspur in 2019 following failure in the Champions League final, Tripper will be eager to have a second and more successful stint in England should he make the move.

The move may not be up to him, however, and will come down to those willing to make an offer. Manchester United have previously been linked with making a move but nothing came to fruition. Whether they reignite their interest to grant Trippier’s wish remains to be seen.

Why United Should Make the Move

Having already secured long-term target Jadon Sancho, Manchester United could go onto seal other deals this summer. And that includes Kieran Tripper, who has previously been linked. As of right now, they have not reignited their interest, but they should certainly consider it. The former Spurs right-back would add a different dimension to the position at Old Trafford in comparison to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Whilst Wan-Bissaka has the unmatched ability to defend one-on-one, the modern-day fullback requires more than that. In fact, a fullbacks’ ability going forward can sometimes outweigh their defensive capabilities. Get yourself a defender who can do both, however, and you’ve got yourself the perfect player. For Manchester United, Tripper could be that player.

He would have learned almost every defensive trick in the book under the guidance of Diego Simeone and he more than proved his offensive capabilities at the Euros with England. By the looks of it, Trippier is now an all-round modern-day fullback, which is exactly what United need down their right-hand side at Old Trafford.
