Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a move for Bologna defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Japan International High on Spurs’ Priority List
Twenty-two-year-old Takehiro Tomiyasu had emerged as a potential transfer target for Tottenham, with the North London club in desperate need of defensive reinforcements.
With the future of Serge Aurier in doubt, Spurs are in need of a right-back and further central options. Tomiyasu ticks both boxes as the Japan international can play in both positions.
Last season, he turned out 31 times in Serie A with almost an equal number of games played in the middle and on the right. However, his two goals came when the 22-year-old played as a full back.
However, according to Di Marzio, Atalanta are also interested in signing the defender, who has been valued at £17 million.
Spurs have been looking for defensive recruitment since last summer, despite the arrival of Joe Rodon. It is believed that the new managing director of football Fabio Paratici has focused his attention on the position during this transfer window.
Who is Takehiro Tomiyasu?
Capped 23 times by Japan, Tomiyasu came through the ranks at Avispa Fukuoka before moving to Dutch side, Sint-Truiden.
In 2019, the 22-year-old signed for Serie A outfit Bologna and impressed during his time in Italy. In addition to his 23 senior caps, Tomiyasu has represented Japan at every youth level since U14.
Managerial Search Still Ongoing
While Spurs are recruiting for new players ahead of the start of the 2021/22 campaign, the club are yet to appoint a new manager.
Antonio Conte, Gennaro Gattuso and Nuno Espirito Santo are just some of the names that have been linked with a move to North London, but the search for Jose Mourinho’s successor continues.
