Caoimhin Kelleher Signs New Liverpool Deal

Caoimhin Kelleher

Caoimhin Kelleher has officially put pen to paper on a new contract at Liverpool after a breakthrough season. The Irishman is now the outright number two at the club despite Adrian also signing an extension. He made five appearances last season when Alisson was absent, including in a 1-0 victory over Ajax.

Liverpool fans will be delighted about the extension after seeing the keeper go from strength to strength to ease their goalkeeping woes in the absence of Alisson. Speaking to official club website, Kelleher said: “I am happy to get it over the line and finally done; it was in the pipeline for a few months with negotiations and stuff, so I am delighted to get it done.

“For me, it was a positive moment to commit my future to the club for the next few years. It’s such a big club and it’s an honour to be a part of it, so when I got the chance to sign for a few more years I was obviously delighted. I just want to keep my progress going at the club, really.”

The Only Way is up for Kelleher

It can only get better for Caoimhin Kelleher from here after such an impressive season. As the new number two, the Irishman will be hoping for more opportunities to showcase his ability. As the appearances continue to stack up, Kelleher may even get the opportunity to claim a permanent starting spot for his country.

In the end, it was his composure on the ball which likely convinced Jurgen Klopp to take him over Adrian, who often seems far too nervous in possession. That and Kelleher’s proven shot-stopping ability has seen the keeper overtake the Spaniard at Liverpool. Next season will certainly be a big one for both Kelleher and Liverpool as they look to reclaim their Premier League crown.
