Perhaps the worst kept secret in the world of football, Eric Garcia has finally completed his move to Barcelona. The central defender leaves Manchester City having won a handful of trophies, including the Premier League and four League Cups. Garcia, himself, will be delighted to be joining Barcelona after leaving in the 16/17 season in search of further development.
Now that he has that experience and development as a champion under his belt, the central defender will be hoping to play a huge role in Barcelona’s future. Garcia won’t be alone when it comes to free agents making the move to the Camp Nou this summer, either. Now ex-Manchester City teammate Sergio Aguero has also made the switch.

A Transfer for the Present and Future
At 20-years-old, Eric Garcia has already won a significant amount of trophies and has amassed a lot of experience. He’ll undeniably be a large part of both Barcelona’s present and future. The fact that he was selected for Spain’s Euros squad at such a young age tells you all you need to know about his ability.
Amongst an ageing defence, Garcia will add some much needed youth in the Barcelona backline. Perhaps, when making the transfer, the hierarchy at the Camp Nou believed they were getting themselves a future leader. If that is the case, they’ve certainly done it for a bargain deal.
And that seems to be the direction Barcelona are heading towards this summer. If a top talent is available as a free agent, be prepared to see them holding up the famous Barcelona shirt this summer. Eric Garcia looks to be the first of many to sign on the dotted line in a free deal.
In an important summer ahead, the Spanish giants are already making all the right moves.
