Gameweek 30 Fantasy Premier League Captaincy Dilemma
Gameweek 30 Fantasy Premier League Captaincy: The Options
Harry Kane
- Goals: 17
- Assists: 13
- FPL Points: 191
- FPL points in the last five matches: 36
- Price: £11.6
- Opponents: Newcastle United (away)
Harry Kane is perhaps the best candidate for the armband this week on paper. Tottenham Hotspur have a great fixture this week and should get the three points. However, Newcastle’s defensive approach could prove to be a problem.
Earlier in the season, Steve Bruce’s men managed a 1-1 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The availability of Son Heung-min is still uncertain although he could return. On a positive note, Kane scored a brace last time he played at St. James’ Park. So, overall Kane is a very strong contender for the armband.
Bruno Fernandes
- Goals: 16
- Assists: 12
- FPL Points: 209
- FPL points in the last five matches: 31
- Price: £11.5
- Opponents: Brighton & Hove Albion (home)
Bruno Fernandes has an excellent record against this week’s opponents, Brighton. He has scored three goals in two matches against the Seagulls. Manchester United have won the last five matches against them as well.
Brighton’s possession-based style should suit the Red Devils as they can pick them off on fast counters. Fernandes is a brilliant captaincy option this week.
Raphinha
- Goals: 6
- Assists: 6
- FPL Points: 107
- FPL points in the last five matches: 23
- Price: £5.7
- Opponents: Sheffield United (home)
Raphinha has performed very well in recent weeks and got himself a goal last week too. Rock-bottom Sheffield United seem to be great candidates for Leeds United to dominate.
However, this is a Yorkshire derby and despite the Blades’ abysmal position on the points table, they have fought hard in matches. They have won on both of their last two visits to Elland Road as well. So, a tight game could be in prospect. Patrick Bamford is also a decent option although his big scores have tended to come away from home.
Marcos Alonso
- Goals: 1
- Assists: 0
- Clean Sheets: 4
- FPL Points: 39
- FPL points in the last five matches: 23
- Price: £5.7
- Opponents: West Bromwich Albion (home)
Marcos Alonso has a very good chance to start this Saturday for Chelsea. Ben Chilwell played the whole game for England on Wednesday night so Thomas Tuchel might decide to go with Alonso for this one.
Opponents West Brom don’t score many. In fact, the Baggies have scored just once in the last five matches, so a clean sheet is very likely. Alonso has shown his attacking prowess over the years and against defensive-minded teams like West Brom, he will roam forward quite a lot – an attacking return is also quite possible. One could take a punt on Alonso. There is a very good chance of a high return.
