The blockbuster tie of Real Madrid vs Liverpool headlined the UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw, which was made in Nyon on Friday morning.

A repeat of last seasons’ final is also on the cards, as last season’s winners Bayern Munich will face Paris Saint-Germain eight months after beating the French side in Lisbon.

English Clubs Face Intriguing Tests if They Are to Taste Sweet Success of European Glory

European heavyweights Real Madrid and Liverpool, who have an astonishing 19 European titles between, will go head-to-head for a place in the semi-finals after the quarter-final draw.

Chelsea are likely to be the happiest English club, as the outcome of their draw sees them face Portuguese outfit FC Porto, who are fresh from knocking out Juventus in the last 16’s biggest upset of the round.

Manchester City’s stout defence will be put to the test by the electric Erling Haaland, as the Citizens play host to Borussia Dortmund. Pep Guardiola will be hoping to lead them to a maiden European trophy after his side suffered a painful exit at the hands of Lyon in 2019/20.

Details of the full draw are as follows, with ties to be played on 6 & 7 April before the second legs take place a week later, on 13 and 14 April:

Manchester City vs. Borussia Dortmund

FC Porto vs. Chelsea

Bayern Munich vs. Paris Saint-Germain

Real Madrid vs. Liverpool

Semi-Final Draw Also Finalised with All-English Encounter a Possibility

In addition to the quarter-final draw, UEFA also announced the route clubs will have to the final in Istanbul on 29 May. An all-English matchup could occur in the final four.

If Liverpool manage to defeat Real Madrid and Chelsea overcome Porto, then the two Premier League clubs will play each other for a place in UEFA’s showpiece event. These ties, which take place on 27-28 April and 4-5 May, can be seen below.
