Since his arrival from Barcelona in the summer of 2018, Digne has gone on to make 94 appearances for Everton. It is the most appearances he has made for any one club, where he has also scored five times and provided an impressive 19 assists.
The left-back has been a key figure at Everton, with only suspension and injuries keeping the 27-year-old out of the matchday squad.
Capped 35 times by France, Digne also brings a wealth of experience to Ancelotti’s squad, which includes time playing at some of Europe’s top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Roma.
New Contract
Now though, Ancelotti is confident that the full-back will pen a new deal next week. Speaking to the media, the Toffees’ boss said: “I’m not in there but I know, I think next week, they agreed. I think next week he is going to sign officially a new contract.”
Digne signed a five-year deal in 2018 but Ancelotti wants to reward him for his impressive performances. The France international has excelled under the Italian, adding ten assists from just 36 Everton appearances.
Discussions have been ongoing since before Christmas but the deal is imminent. It comes at a good time, too, with Romano reporting that there is “interest from Spanish clubs.”
