Millwall’s Tyler Burey Given New Long-Term Contract

Gary Rowett is continuing his belief in young players as Millwall’s Tyler Burey has been given a new long term contract.

First Team Chances Will Come for Young Players

The fact that Billy Mitchell, Hayden Muller and Danny McNamara, who himself just signed a new long term contract with the London club, have all had minutes on the pitch this season is a sign that Burey will get his chance to prove himself.

Burey started his career at AFC Wimbledon and played three times for the club but moved to Millwall after declining a new contract with the Dons.

Burey told Millwall’s official website that he is ready to knuckle down and work hard. He said: “I’ve signed a new contract, I’m delighted and I’m ready to work hard and continue doing what I’m doing.

“It’s a massive confidence boost to see the likes of Danny McNamara, Hayden Muller, Billy Mitchell and myself get minutes on the pitch.”

First Team Debut

Burey has made eight first-team appearances for Millwall to date, which began with an appearance in the game against Huddersfield Town on the final day of the 2019/20 season.

Burey has played the majority of his games for the Millwall U23 squad but his ability to play on both the right and left wings has impressed the Millwall management team leading to this new deal.

Bright Future Ahead for Burey

At just 19 years of age, time is on Burey’s side and early signs are that Millwall could have a future star on their hands. As a result, the club were in no mood to wait to see a future first-team regular snapped up by Premier League clubs and tying him to a longer-term deal means the player now has the security and chance to prove his true worth.
