Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 23 starts this Saturday as the plethora of football action continues. Gameweek 22 saw most FPL managers disappointed with their captaincy choice as Mohamed Salah drew a blank at home whereas Bruno Fernandes produced a massive 17 points as Manchester United thrashed Southampton 9-0. What surprises could be in store for us this gameweek?

Quick Tips
From having no cover on the bench to having to decide who to bench. There is always a dilemma for FPL managers. One just has to believe in their choices and hope for the best.
Goalkeepers
Emiliano Martínez takes on his former side this Saturday. The Argentine remains a great long-term pick, although offensively Arsenal are looking good these days despite their midweek defeat.
Nick Pope has some nice fixtures coming up and could keep clean sheets in those.
Defenders
Manchester City just can’t stop keeping clean sheets. They kept their sixth clean sheet in a row against Burnley. João Cancelo, John Stones and Rúben Dias will fancy themselves to keep another one at Anfield.
One should consider Burnley defenders strongly as their next three fixtures look quite kind. Matthew Lowton is a decent option. Their opponents Brighton & Hove Albion are in great form and have kept four clean sheets in a row. Adam Webster and Ben White are nice cheap options as well.
The forgotten man Marcos Alonso returned to the Chelsea lineup last week and scored a magnificent goal too. Alonso has been a great attacking defender over the years and he could be a great option if he can nail down a starting spot under Thomas Tuchel.
Aaron Cresswell should have opportunities to get some nice points this week. He has produced eight assists so far this season.
James Justin has provided consistent points this season and should have a good shot at a clean sheet against Wolves this week.
Midfielders
Son Heung-min has failed to find the back of the net in the last four matches. The South Korean has a nice fixture this week against the Baggies. He is a strong contender for the armband even though Tottenham Hotspur‘s performances have not been great.
Bruno Fernandes scored a massive 17 points on Tuesday. He is a great pick and a good shout for captaincy. However, one has to consider Everton‘s away record also. The Toffees have won their last four away matches. On the other hand, they don’t have a great record at Old Trafford traditionally, with their last win coming in 2013.
Jesse Lingard made his West Ham United debut sensationally with a brace against Aston Villa. Will he continue to impress under David Moyes? Lingard is available at a very attractive price. Tomas Soucek has scored eight goals so far this season. The impressive Czech midfielder is still being benched by FPL managers on most weeks.
Chelsea midfielders are tempting as they have some decent fixtures coming up. However, we cannot be certain who will start under the new head coach.
With Liverpool taking on Manchester City at Anfield, there might be a temptation to sell Mohamed Salah. However, a player of the Egyptians’ calibre can light up any match. As the designated penalty taker, Salah is never far away from hauling big. However, he missed a couple of good chances in the last game as well. Ilkay Gündogan is playing exceptionally well for Manchester City and can hurt Liverpool.
Jack Grealish has been very consistent this season. Arsenal defenders will be wary of him. Nicolas Pépé is in great form for the gunners although Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang might replace him in the starting lineup. Bukayo Saka remains a great option.
James Maddison produced a great performance against Fulham, scoring 11 points. He has blanked only once in the last six gameweeks. Harvey Barnes and Youri Tielemans could also do well against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Strikers
Michail Antonio is playing well since his return. Despite failing to score in his last three matches, Antonio has produced three assists in them. He should have decent opportunities this week against Fulham.
Earlier in the season, Leeds United were hammered 4-1 by Crystal Palace. The Eagles love playing on the counter and Leeds are the ideal candidates for that style to succeed. Patrick Bamford should still get chances to score.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin got a goal after a long time on Wednesday. Can he fire Everton to yet another away victory? It won’t be easy at Old Trafford though.
With Arsenal missing Bernd Leno to suspension, Ollie Watkins could profit. The striker tends to miss a lot of chances but has scored three in the last four gameweeks.
Danny Ings has failed to score in the last three matches. Southampton will need him to fire to restore some pride after their 9-0 humiliation.
