The Striker Leaves Aberdeen After Two and Half Years
Main broke through at Darlington playing in League Two for the Quakers. His impressive displays for them earned him a move to Middlesbrough.
He made 48 appearances for Boro’, scoring six goals. Main had a brief spell with the Shrews back in 2013-14 where he made five appearances for the club.
Two years at Doncaster Rovers followed where he notched nine goals in 48 matches. Spells at Oldham Athletic and Portsmouth followed before Main moved to the Scottish Premiership in 2018.
He managed eight goals in 49 league games for Motherwell before moving to Aberdeen in 2019. Injuries have hampered his time at Pittodrie but he did score goals for Derek McInnes’ team.
He scored six times in 32 league games for Aberdeen before the leaving club earlier today. Main has now signed up for a second spell with Shrewsbury Town.
The club have been transformed since Steve Cotterill took over as manager. The Shrews are upwardly mobile and moving clear of any relegation danger. They do face a busy second half of the season with Shrews having plenty of games in hand.
Main is expected to play his part and he will add some firepower to the Shrews attack. They have lacked a clinical number nine and Cotterill Main is the man to score the goals.
He could make his Shrewsbury debut against Crewe Alexandra on January 2.
