According to Patrick Boyland of The Athletic, Russian side CSKA Moscow have shown an interest in taking out of favour Everton forward Cenk Tosun on loan.
The news comes with the forward in desperate need of a return to form, and a return to first-team action.
Tosun arrived with a reputation for goals. Now, with a place in the Everton frontline difficult to come by, he could leave having failed to impress.
CSKA Moscow Interested in Tosun
Failed Everton Move
According to Boyland, Moscow have shown an interest in making a short-term loan deal for Tosun this month. Talks are reportedly at an early stage, but Tosun wants minutes to ensure his place in Turkey’s Euros side this summer.
The short-term loan move would suit all parties, too. Tosun needs minutes; his services at Goodison Park are surplus to requirements, and CSKA Moscow are interested.
Going back to last season, Tosun had the opportunity snatched away from him after being loaned out to Crystal Palace before suffering a season-ending injury.
Now, a year later, he’ll be desperate for another move and another chance to regain much-needed momentum ahead of the Euros. A loan move could become permanent should it work out, too.
The Toffees secured his services for £25 million in 2018 and will want to ensure that some kind of profit is made from the failed transfer.
CSKA Moscow Aiming for Title
As things stand in Russia, CSKA Moscow sit second, four points adrift of leaders Zenit St Petersburg, and in need of a boost.
Perhaps by securing a player of Tosun’s calibre, they can shorten the gap between themselves and the title currently on course for Zenit. Certainly, if a deal happens, it will suit all parties- especially if Tosun returns to his once clinical best shown in Turkey.
