New Tariq Lamptey Contract Unlikely to Fend off Interest From Premier League Clubs

Lamptey interest

Despite signing a new contract at Brighton & Hove Albion- according to David Ornstein of The Athletic– the interest in Tariq Lamptey from fellow Premier League clubs is unlikely to go away.

The young fullback has impressed many since swapping Chelsea for Brighton 12 months ago, and the new four-and-a-half-year deal is not going to magic away the on-watching potential future suitors.

The former Stamford Bridge man may have enjoyed his time at The Amex Stadium, but, with the talent he has so clear in abundance, it won’t be long until the top clubs come calling once more- even after the contract news.

According to Ornstein, clubs including Arsenal, Everton and Manchester City have shown an interest in the Englishman alongside the current Champions League holders Bayern Munich

Lamptey Contract Unlikely to Fend off Premier League Interest

Tariq Lamptey: A Wanted Man

The news of Lamptey’s on-watching admirers comes as no surprise when considering his capabilities. The young right-back is one of the best in his position in the league- despite playing for relegation candidates Brighton.

In truth, his future must lie elsewhere. A player of Lamptey’s ability is always destined to reach the top- new contract or not. With the Euros fast-approaching, too, Gareth Southgate will be among the admirers watching on.

The Brighton fullback will have tough competition to overcome, though, with both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James ahead of him in the pecking order.

As the season progresses and Lamptey continues to impress both Southgate and the top clubs in the Premier League, however, the Englishman’s chances of playing on the biggest of stages will only increase.

For now, though, his future lies at the Amex under Graham Potter with the focus set on avoiding relegation and progressing up the league table in a side so full of potential.
