Preston North End Secure Jayson Molumby Loan Deal

Millwall Were Desperate to Sign Molumby

Preston have completed a deal for the player that will see him stay at Deepdale until the end of the current campaign. The 21-year old was also a target for Millwall, who had the player on a loan deal themselves last season.

In fact, the Lions were so eager to bring him back to the club that they made a large bid to bring the midfielder back to the club permanently. However, Brighton see potential in the Irishman and didn’t want to let him leave, so turned it down.

Instead, they are happy to let him leave the club on a short-term basis to gain more valuable first-team experience in the Championship.

Played Once for Brighton

Molumby spent the 2019/20 campaign with Millwall and played 36 times for them. He’s also featured once for his parent club in the Premier League but has spent the majority of his time with the Seagulls plying his trade for their reserve side instead.

Speaking about the transfer, Molumby told PNE’s official website: “I am really happy to be here. I spoke to the gaffer and the Irish boys here, who I know quite well, and it was a no brainer in the end and I am looking forward to getting started.”

Of course, the Irish international is referring to both Sean Maguire and Alan Browne who also play regularly for the Lilywhites.

Preston’s Alex Neil Claims Jayson Molumby is ‘Great Acquisition’

Speaking about the move, Preston boss Alex Neil said: “I think this is a signal of intent from us and he is a great acquisition. He has great energy, is good on the ball and is an Irish international.”

Molumby marks Preston’s first foray into the transfer market so far this transfer window and it’s certainly a solid way for the club to start their window.
