Lee Turnbull, 53, has been announced as Bradford City‘s new recruitment director and will help the Bantam’s source players this January. The official announcement is rather late as the former Chesterfield player has been working with the club for a number of weeks already. It is also thought that Turnbull will help change the club’s internal structure.
City’s CEO, Ryan Sparks, believes Turnbull will offer much-needed support to the young management team: “He has been working closely with Mark Trueman, Conor Sellars and myself – along with our analysts – for some time now, ensuring we are as ready as we can be for what lies ahead.”
Bradford City appoint Lee Turnbull as New Recruitment Director
Joining From Chesterfield
Lee Turnbull has joined Bradford City as a recruitment director from Chesterfield, where he had a similar role. At Chesterfield, Turnbull assisted in scouting strategy, alongside chief scout Paul Lemon. However, even within a small timeframe, Turnbull also helped in the building of Chesterfield’s recruitment policy.
Moreover, the chairman of the Spireites, Mike Goodwin, wished him a fond farewell. Speaking to the club’s official podcast, Mr. Goodwin said: “He has gone on to greater things and I’d just like to put on record my thanks for what he’s done over the last six weeks to help us get our recruitment policy up and running.”
After just one month at the Spireites, Turnbull is ready to sink into a bigger challenge. Speaking to the official Bradford City website, Turnbull spoke of his excitement: “I am really excited to be here. It is a massive club and where it is at the moment is probably not reflective of its stature. A lot of hard work has already been done to set up a robust recruitment department, put a scouting network and database of players in place and get Bradford City moving forward.“
Turnbull’s Expertise Is Being Exploited For The January Transfer Window
Ryan Sparks, 29, added to the announcement in speaking of his determination to get the transfer window right: “The January transfer window is an important one for us, as is always the case, and we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring we are in a stronger place, come February 1.”
Obviously, this move will help the fledging managerial team of Mark Trueman, 32, and Conor Sellars, 28. The pair are impressing at the club, however, Sparks is keen to offer them as much support as possible.
