After impressing once more this season before an untimely injury, Everton are set to offer left-back Lucas Digne a new contract, according to Paul Joyce of The Times.
The news will come as music to the ears of the on-watching Everton fans who will be desperate to see the Frenchman make his return from injury as soon as possible.
The fullback has become one of the main men at Goodison Park and is set to stay for many years to come as Carlo Ancelotti looks to guide the Toffees to new heights.
Everton to Offer Lucas Digne New Contract
Digne Deserves New Contract
If this season has proved anything, it is that Everton are a far better team with Digne in the side- therefore making a new contract for the Frenchman a priority. His current contract expires in June 2023- meaning there is no rush to get the extension over the line.
Should Digne sign a new contract, as reports suggest he will, however, we could see the Frenchman in Merseyside until at least 2025. As one of Everton’s key men, he’ll undoubtedly be keen to put pen to paper on a new and improved contract.
Ancelotti, too, will need no reminding of the importance of the left-back to his side aiming to reach the unprecedented heights of Champions League football.
Everton Finding Form Again
At the start of the season, Everton were flying at the top of the table. As we all know, however, what goes up must come down. And, Everton’s downfall soon came in the form of losses to Southampton, Newcastle United and Leeds United.
Since that barren run, though, Ancelotti has managed to guide the Toffees back to top-four form with wins over Chelsea, Leicester City and Arsenal. Now, heading into the League Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester United, the Toffees are back to their best and ready to cause another upset.
