Liverpool Waiting to Find Out Severity of Diogo Jota Injury

Jota injury

In the press conference leading up to the Fulham game, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Diogo Jota would miss the upcoming fixture having sustained an injury against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League.

Now, according to Paul Joyce of the Times, Liverpool are waiting for the knee injury to settle down before finding out the severity of the situation.

Jota Ruled Out of Fulham Game With Knee Injury

The Latest of Many Injury Woes

Liverpool’s injury list is as big as it gets in the Premier League, and, every time it seems to become shorter, the injury plague strikes again. Last time, it was Alisson Becker who was the subject of bad news- forced to miss the last three games.

Now, having picked up the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award, it is Diogo Jota. And, whilst we are yet to find out the severity of the injury, many fans will undoubtedly be worried that more disappointing news is to come.

With the game against title rivals Tottenham Hotspur to come in mid-week, too, the impact of Jota’s injury could become a season-defining one at Anfield.

The Reds have battled through an injury-riddled season so far but losing the forward for an extended amount of time could be the final straw.

Opportunity for Others

Of course, with the growing list of absentees comes an opportunity for others to step up and impress. Caoimhin Kelleher became the most recent academy graduate to take to the spotlight following Alisson’s injury. Rhys Williams, too, has stepped up in place of Virgil van Dijk.

Now, the chance presents itself to squad players such as Takumi Minamino and Xherdan Shaqiri to do the same. It is an opportunity the must take, or risk losing their place in Jurgen Klopp’s squad altogether in January.
