Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Everton’s triple injury woe ahead of the upcoming Premier League tie against Chelsea.
Everton’s Triple Injury Woe
Key Players to Miss Chelsea Match
After a strong start to the Premier League season, Everton have hit a somewhat sticky patch with just one win in the last six. As a result, the Toffees have drifted from early season table toppers to ninth place and the visit of Chelsea has become harder with three key players to miss the game at Goodison Park. Seamus Coleman and Fabian Delph will miss the match and Ancelotti has now confirmed that striker James Rodriguez has also joined the injury list.
Groin Strain
James picked up a groin injury against Burnley and has not sufficiently rec recovered to make the matchday squad for the visit of Chelsea. The Columbian was key to Everton’s fine start to the season following his transfer from Real Madrid and Ancelotti told reporters of the forwards’ injury.
Ahead of the game, he said: “We have James out, who had a little problem in the game against Burnley. He was not able to train this week, I think he will start to train next week. For this game, we don’t want to take a risk.”
Confidence
Despite Everton’s triple injury woe, boss Ancelotti still feels that his team go into the match against high flying Chelsea with confidence.
“I think we arrive at the game with confidence and motivation,” he added.
Following the Chelsea game, Everton travel to Leicester City on Wednesday, December 16, and Ancelotti has said that James Rodriguez will be checked on to see if he can recover to feature in that match.
He added: “I don’t want to take a risk with a player who was not able to train this week. We have to look at him after the game to see if he will be able to train and play against Leicester.”
