Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial have given a Manchester United injury headache to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of the Champions League tie away to Bundesliga team RB Leipzig, the Manchester United manager confirmed.
Manchester United Dealt Injury Blow Ahead of RB Leipzig Tie
Martial and Cavani to Miss RB Leipzig Tie
Both Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial will miss Manchester United’s trip to Germany in the Champions League on Tuesday 8th December. It is a very tight in Group H although Manchester United only need one point to secure safe passage to the last 16. Manchester United sit top of the group with a superior goal difference compared to their opponents on Tuesday night and Paris Saint-Germain. All three teams sit on 9 points so this Manchester United injury blow will set nerves jangling.
David de Gea and Luke Shaw Return
Missing two key players is not good news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but better news exists with both David de Gea, who missed the win over West Ham United and Luke Shaw returning to the squad.
No Place for Complacency
Despite a point being all Manchester United need to progress, complacency must be avoided. A defeat would see them drop to third place and enter the Europa League. Boss Solskjaer feels his team are showing real character right now.
“The character of the group is getting better and better and we’re looking forward to the game. It’s something that we want, games like this. It’s a tradition for Man United, we never make it easy for ourselves.”
Odion Ighalo Could Get Chance Amid Manchester United Injury Concerns
Odion Ighalo may start for Manchester United in Germany due to those injuries to Martial and Cavani. United will need to be strong across the pitch to get something in Germany but should have more than enough despite injuries to progress.
