Danny Ings has been encouraged to sign a new contract by Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, with only 18 months remaining on the striker’s current deal.

Saints Boss Wants Star Striker to Stay At St. Mary’s
The England striker has been in red-hot form since the start of last season. In seven Premier League games so far this season, Ings netted five times before suffering a knee injury that has kept him out since November.
However, following the news that Ings could return to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday night, Saints boss Hasenhuttl has revealed he has been in regular talks with him over a new deal.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Hasenhuttl said: “It’s normal that you get a situation like he has in a football club, and this is something special I think.
“I don’t want him to throw this away for a few more monies.
“I speak to him once or twice a month about this topic. We must concentrate on our job here. I don’t speak to him every week about his contract. It’s not my job.
“It’s his responsibility. He has to take the decision. Nobody else. He has to take the decision then live with the fact that he did this or that.”
Quizzed on Ings’ availability to face Brighton, Hasenhuttl responded: “We must have a look. Yesterday was the first time he was training with the team.
“He looks good. We must look how his body reacts to the training and then we can say more. But it looked good yesterday, yes.”
The Saints will be looking to return to winning ways when they travel to AMEX Stadium. After throwing away a 2-0 half-time lead to fall to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Manchester United in their last league match.
Following an excellent start to the season, the Saints sit sixth in the Premier League, just four points off the top of the table.
