Kolasinac Tests Positive for COVID-19

Blow for Bosnia and Herzegovina

With the game against Italy in the Nations League ahead, the news of Kolasinac’s positive test would have frustrated Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Arsenal man, among others, is considered a key player within what is at times a weak Bosnian squad.

Now forced to march on without him, Bosnia may struggle to maintain any hope of pulling off the biggest of upsets against a classy Italian side. When it comes to Arsenal duties, too, Kolasinac, will miss out when he needs game time more than ever.

The fullback has made just seven appearances for the Gunners so far this season and would have liked to have used the game against Italy as a much-needed chance to gain some crucial match sharpness.

For now, however, he must begin isolation in accordance with the guidelines set, missing out on opportunities to impress the on watching Mikel Arteta in the process.

International Break Strikes Again

In just the space of a few days, several tests for COVID-19 have come back as positive amid what has become the most naive and poorly timed international break of all time.

The break undoubtedly put players at risk, and questions of its necessity have been rightfully posed to those in charge of making the decisions. Clubs must now welcome the return of league football, some without key players, and pick up where they originally left off before the so clearly wrongfully timed international break which has resulted in an unsurprising surge in COVID-19 cases within the footballing world.
